Tyler Shipton, one of the opening chefs at Minneapolis' Borough, has opened a new eatery in the picturesque town of Lanesboro, Minn.
Shipton, along with partner Ame Putman, opened Juniper's ( 109 Parkway Av. S., Lanesboro) in the former Riverside on the Root. The two-story restaurant serves a focused menu of dishes like pork Bolognese over Aliment pasta, roasted mushroom soup and a double-decker smashburger.

Lanesboro is an utterly charming destination all on its own. Many tourists come to bike the Root River Trail and enjoy the town's leisurely pace. And while those are attractive draws, the best reason to take the trip just might be dining at Juniper's, the restaurant with "elevated fast-casual cuisine" that Ame and Tyler Shipton opened last winter. Named for their young daughter, the layout is unconventional — a dining room, two balconies and a deck — but fun to explore, especially in the summertime when the patio overlooking the Root River is open.

Named after Juniper, Shipton is bringing his love for his family and his passion for cooking together in an almost dreamlike setting with a view of the Root River.
Shipton’s interest in all things food began while growing up on a hobby farm in southeast Minnesota, often times cooking, canning and pickling his grandmother’s fresh garden produce alongside her.
